Profile
A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in Accounting (1995), as well as a Juris Doctor (1999). He also holds a master’s degree in international law and international Relations from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2002), a master’s degree in public administration with a major in International Finance and Economic Policy from Columbia University in New York (2009), and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1997 (currently inactive).
In accordance with his academic and professional experience, he has focused his private practice on offering legal and corporate advice to corporations and boards of directors, as well as to institutions of higher education on government affairs, specifically in matters of state and federal regulations applicable to these organizations. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico.
García-Zapata is admitted to the legal profession in Puerto Rico, in the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston. He is also admitted to practice as a public notary in Puerto Rico.
